Super design, but it's BIG - fits a large pot. Perfect for a 5-Quart 'Dutch Oven' - pot diameter about 10-inches. It's too big for a 3-Quart pot - sad that some people were disappointed that way.

Has rubber/plastic feet - won't scratch pot. Plastic center handle has low specific heat - no worries about burned fingers - also extends 2-inches - better lift stability. Over the years we've had several steamers - this is the best. (Weight: 11-ounces)

I loved this little steamer when I first picked it up. It folds gracefully into a dish shape that fits variable width pans, it folds back into a disc for compact storage, the little holes in the metal are nicely spaced and the right width to let enough steam out but not let bits of the food being steamed fall into the boiling water. So far so good.

But, it has a plastic handle and little plastic feet that sit in between it and the inside of the pan you boil water in. When I first saw this I thought: "Huh. Plastic in a high-heat cooking tool. Ah well, it's probably some sort of strong, heat resistant plastic." Well yes, up to the temperature of boiling water, sure. But the temperature of the pan the little feet are sitting on is a bit hot for it. The feet (and part of the handle) actually melted into the metal disk and the bottom of the pan when I left the steamer on for a few minutes after taking out my steamed veggies. The smell of burnt plastic was just awful, and took forever to get rid of. And the pan I had sat the steamer in is now ruined- I'm not going to cook with it now that there are bits of plastic congealed on it and it smells like chemicals.

Conclusion: theoretically good design, but shoddy materials.

This may sound odd, but this is the first steamer that I have ever had. So needless to say, I do not have others to compare it to. However,I find that I use it more than I thought I would! The unfolded steamer fits perfectly in the pot that I most use for vegies and the like, and when I pull out the sides (the steaming tray) it fits nicely up the sides of the pot. Besides your basic steamed vegies, I find that it's perfect for warming up leftovers like rice, leaving it hot and fluffy. I like that the handle extends, so you can keep the cover on it while cooking, but you can extend the handle for easier lifting. And you can't beat the price!

This is the best steamer I have for 1 reason, it is easy to clean. Every other steamer that I have owned has gotten scum growing in some water spout. This steamer comes completely apart and most everything fits right in the dishwasher. It is very powerful and easily cooks all the veggies I put in there.

I absolutely LOVE this steamer!
You fill the bottom section with water. Place on the drip tray, place on the plastic container and either place your food directly into the plastic container or fill one or both of the metal baskets. Cover, set the timer, and your done!

We love the steamed chicken it makes. My husband who would never touch white meat loves it made in the steamer. My picky, Aspergers, almost 13 year old boy, is devouring the chicken, and I am sticking to my diet! Cut the chicken into strips, place in steamer, set timer for 15 - 30 minutes (depending on the amount of chicken) and you are done!

And then the best of all....it ALL goes in the dishwasher!

The broccoli was the best steamed broccoli I ever tasted. The cauliflower (the only vegetable my son will touch) was incredible. The zucchini's and yellow squash tasted like a treat!

I cannot say enough good about my new toy!

My son just wants to know if he can call it Mom's cooking or did Emeril make it?

Having purchased (and thoroughly used!) several steamers previously I knew what I wanted and what I did not want. The Emerilware offered metal steaming bowls and a quick, constant steam feature. I found the metal preferable to the common plastic steamer trays since metal is easier to keep clean & doesn't crack and break like the plastic trays do. The unit has a larger "footprint" than other units but I had no problem adapting to it. I found the operating instructions easy & food quality is consistently good. I would recommend this unit to anyone who intends on using a steamer on a regular basis. It holds up!

This is our second countertop water heater for teas/soups etc. The insulation in our first one (a zojirushi hand pump) broke down after four years. We really like the automatic dispensing feature and the 6 hour break feature, as well as the fact that it is plain white. An excellent value for those who drink tea as often as we do.

I got this thermo pot as a baby shower gift from one of my girlfriends, who is a veteran mom. It's great to have ready hot water with a baby, it's easy to use, the water is always hot. The size is perfect for our use. My Mother-in-law likes it so much we bought it for her as a thank you gift for helping us so much the last few months. It's easy to use, just that there's mineral build-up, have to use the mineral removal pills to clean up the pot once every two months. Other than that, it's reliable, easy to use, I highly recommend it.

Nice and simple pot. Has six hour timer, however, would like to have a longer delay for the day use. Also, when using the timer, it always resets the final temperature to 190 degree. Would be nice if it can "remember" the previous temperature setting. The inner container is coated with floury charcoal, not teflon coating that any other brands offer. It claims to bring out the fine taste of water. To me, at least it looks better than the grey teflon coating. Another feature missing is it does not come with the audible alarm.

Extra spec that I would like to know before ordering:
Power: 700 Watt
Temp setting: 140, 180, 190, 208
No audible alarm for any events.

After all, I am happy with the pot for the price and the build quality. Not sure if I would pay extra $30+ for the fancy features Zojirushi brand offers.

I was on-line looking for a recipe to try fresh artichokes in my Pasta Express and came across the bad reviews here and was surprised. Mine has a neoprene sleeve on the outside - wetsuit-type material w/ velcro closure; I wonder if that is the difference? I've had very good results and been pleased. I cook whole-grain pasta, which usually takes a bit longer, but it has always come out great -- al dente & still very hot (in contrast to some of the other comments which said their pasta had cooled off). This is why I wondered if they used the neoprene cover. Anyway, I've had great results w/ linguine, angel hair, spaghetti & rotinni. I will continue to use it, as it is easy and saves clean-up time.
